Matthew DeFreitas, professionally known as Formatt is the founder and operator of Bay Eight Recording Studios Miami. He takes pride in the individuality of the studio and those he hires. With over 16 years of experience, Matthew had his start as an intern in 2004 at Boston Skyline Studios where he labored the ins and outs of the large format recording facility. Working his way up from making coffee runs to eventually becoming a studio owner himself.

As an audio engineer Matthew has achieved multi-platinum status in various countries for his work behind the boards. With his tenure comes a deep understanding of the studio business. Matthew knows the importance of the atmosphere and the vibe of a studio. He equally identifies the critical role an audio engineer plays from technical skill, efficiency, willingness to adapt, and personality. His vision, drive, and creativity for a state of the art facility with a modern mindset and killer staff make Bay Eight Recording Studios a hot spot for musicians across the globe.

Kayla Solano, studio manager, and aspiring engineer, plays no games when it comes to Bay Eight. With her parents rooting from Colombian/Salvadoran & Dominican descent and Kayla being born and raised here in sunny Miami, Florida, you can quickly see & hear her passion in everything she does.

Kayla oversees Bay Eight’s performance ranging from bookings, coordinating with artists, producers, managers, and labels to schedule recording sessions; keeping close track of ongoing projects to ensure that they are on schedule and that our client’s specific needs are being met as well as the training of our interns.

You can always catch her on the hotline, setting up your next session with your hit-making engineer, or working the administration front line, setting the vibes in the lobby. If you’re lucky, she might even make you her famous cafecito! (#IYKYK)
